Cuban Red Macaw and Glaucous Macaw. More extinct parrots (or probably extinct--in the case of the Glaucous), because I'm a sucker for drawing depressing things. Ballpoint pen and watercolor.
they're beautiful ... the poor babies
Lovely portrait! The Glaucous looks so cheerful... and they both look like they're up to no good. :3
ooooh woman you have punned me >_<
I showed this to my wife, who is a tropical bird fan (and we both own tropical birds), and she loved it!
Very pretty, but very sad. When were they declared extinct? I actually keep up with animals pretty well, but I didn't know there were extinct macaws. Not that it really surprises me, sadly
Thanks :} The Cuban Red macaw went extinct in the mid-to-late 1800's, and no credible evidence of living Glaucous macaws have been found since the 1960's. They've probably gone the way of the Cuban Red and so many others...
A sad subject, but a wonderful, playful, vibrant execution. Bravo.
