Wait... "fat halfling"... isn't that redundant?

Great work all around.

the drawing and the painting are great, and I absolutely love halflings, although, I like thiefs, and I don't see this one stealing anything =P

it could be of the stoor strand of hobbit, in response to the shoe thing.
they were the only strand of the three (including harfoots and fallohides, as well) to wear shoes.. and they were also "bulkier" than most other hobbits.

although, a fat hobbit is a happy hobbit. ^_^

alright i'm done geeking it up now. :reading:

psst! i really like it!

I thought halflings didn't wear shoes... where's the furry feet?

Wow, I didn't even think of that at the time. The AD didn't catch it either. I've never actually played DnD...are their halflings different from Tolkein's in the foot respect?

I actually don't know for sure... check the Player's Guide, the species comparison illustration and description are in there. I think after 3E, WoTC went with the kender design as the general default, to avoid potential troubles.

The fact is the the original D&D "halfling" was Tokien's "hobbit", it's quite clear if you have a copy of the original red or blue books (pre AD&D). My copy of the red book actually uses both terms interchangeably, if I'm not mistaken, and the description is absolutely unmistakeable.

But these days I suppose business requires that a distance be made between the old and the new.

Anyhow, I'd double-check the PG.

I thought halflings were supposed to be chubby by law, as ratified by Brussels and the UN.
